Captain America : The First Avenger In Review

I went into this movie expecting  nothing. I literally had no feelings on this one way or the other. I thought the trailers looked interesting but I would not be offended if it had been bad (though it wasn't). While I am a comic fan and have been since I was very small I never really read much Cap. I did read a arc or two of the books but no more. So I know his basic back story and that's about it.

Well Lets get started this is Captain America : The First Avenger In Review

Directed By: Joe Johnston
Produced By: Kevin Feige
Screenplay By : Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely
Based on:  Seriously ?! If you don't know you either live in a box or are a idiot.
Music By : Alan Silvestri
Distributed by: Paramount Pictures
-- After the Jump--

I would like to start things off with the trailer to this film. So for those of you that don't know, all 6 of you, you can get the idea.

I must give the actor playing Steve Rogers (Chris Evans. Yes That Chris Evans the guy who played Johnny Storm In the 2 Fantastic Four movies...The best part) credit he does a fantastic job as coming off as Cap. Actually I liked the whole cast of this movie all of their parts are very well done and feels a lot like the characters they portray. I cant not mention Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull he stands out. He really does

It basically starts showing Steve as a sickly small man who just wants to do his part to help the military. He tries enlisting under several residences but is never taken due to his poor physical health. When he is found by a Dr. Abraham Erskine (played by Stanley Tucci) and asked to take part in a experiment. It is at this point that we are introduced to our female lead and , of course, love interest Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell). During his initial interview with the Doctor Steve tells him that he doesn't want to kill anyone he just doesn't like bullies and that's why he wants to stop Hitler.

When the Super Soldier serum is used on him it is proven to be a great success increasing him exponentially. To what limit we are never told BUT the Nazis have infiltrated their base and destroy all other ability to make a super soldier. Once this happens they military lead of this project Co. Chester Phillips ( played by Tommy Lee Jones) basically pawn off Cap to be the lead in a USO show. After entertaining the troops several times he is sent to entertain the troops. He there learns that his best friend Bucky (played by Sebastian Stan) was captured by the troops of the Red Skull. He successfully saves Bucky and 400 other troops from the Red Skull and a very entertaining action sequence. There is also a quiet note for the Cap fan of the Howling Commandos. They are never called that but the characters are there.

At this point it ceases with its methodical build of the protagonist and the antagonist and descends into a action movie with the same problems that all super hero origin movies have. It seems kind of rushed and feels like they wanted to do more but didn't have the time.

All and all this is a very entertaining summer popcorn film that should be seen by any comic fan. It really does have the charm and fun of the first Iron Man film and probably the best thing I've seen so far this year. Anyone who sees this will find it very entertaining  and really like Chris Evans in the part.

I give it a 4 out of 5 (above average)

Couple of side notes
1. Hayley Atwell looks amazing

2. Look at what Hugo Weaving is holding :

yep that is the magical mcguffin for the movie the Cosmic Cube any long time fan will know what that is. Well that or any other person that saw Thor. Which I didn't....dammit
